• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized, need-based nursing care for patients according to accepted nursing practice and standards.
• Respond to life saving situations, using nursing standards and protocols for treatment and provide basic life support (cardiopulmonary resuscitation in emergency situation) with other team members.
• Perform endotracheal, nasal, and oral suctioning.
• Administer prescribed medicines through different routes (PO, IM, SC, IV, topical, eyes, ears, rectal, feeding tubes)
• Assist in invasive procedures, such as insertion of central line, chest tubes, NG/OG tubes, endotracheal intubation, lumbar puncture, paracentesis, and thoracocentesis.
• Administer parenteral feeding (TPN) ,Enteral feeding via nasogastric or orogastric tubes.
• Administer blood and blood products.
• Start, monitor and titrate infusion of high risk medicines such as inotropes, unfractionated heparin, Insulin etc.
• Perform invasive procedures such as peripheral line insertion, NG tube insertion, blood glucose monitoring and indwelling catheter
• Perform 12 lead Electrocardiogram (ECG)
• Communicate with the team members efficiently and advocate on patient’s behalf to the team
• Communicate with patient and family as required.
• Record and maintain nursing care plans, patients' progress notes to ensure continuity of care.
• Delegate, supervise, and assist other supporting staff in coordinating patient care, comfort, and cleanliness of patients.
• Perform accurate and timely documentation of patient care and interventions within legal and ethical framework.
